Introduction to the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream

The lesson starts with a brainstorming group activity with the words ‘night’ and ‘dream’.  Then, we will make predictions based on two famous paintings. We are going to study one deeper, and write a structured paragraph to describe it. We will then watch a video explaining the plot, the students take notes and feedback what they understood. The students work in teams to identify the characters and understand who is in love with who. After this, we will identify who the characters are  in the opening scene of the film A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Michael Hoffman (1999). Finally, the students will predict what is going to happen in the first scene.
Homework – guided research on William Shakespeare.
